Pakistan accident: Goods train collides with passenger train, 31 people harmed

According to a media report, approximately 31 people got injuries  when a passenger train collided on Sunday with a freight train parked on the main railway line in Pakistan’s province. Pakistan accident happened near the Qila Sattar Shah Station in Sheikhupura district.

The passenger train from Lahore-bound coming from Mianwali was travelling on the same track. A freight train was already there, resulting in the crash, Geo News report. The train driver was trying to avoid the crash but to in vain.

According to the rescue team

31 passengers have to face injuries in the accident. Five injured passengers were in serious condition so the rescue team admit them to the district headquarters hospital.

The railway officials conducted an investigation into the crash. A railway spokesperson said in a statement that train operations are running smoothly in Lahore division following the clash. After the accident, the team clears the track after the accident.  According to him, four railways officials including train driver Imran Sarwar and his assistant Muhammad Billal have been suspended.

Inquiry of Pakistan accident

A deputy principal officer has been formed led by an enquiry commission, which will submit its report on the incident in 24 hours, the spokesperson said. The railway chairman ordered legal action against the victims who are responsible for the incident. Railway CEO Shahid Aziz said for  the safety of passengers there will be no any kind of compromise made. Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz(PML-N) President Shehbaaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the incident.  They request to take legal action against the victims of the crash. In the past decade, the country has evidenced a number of deadly train incidents, according to Pakistan’s decaying rail system. This Pakistan accident is terrifying the people.

In August this year, at least 56 people lost their lives. Dozens of people got injuries after as many as 10 bogies of Havelian-bound Hazara Express hindered near Sahara Railway Station in Sindh province’s Nawabshah district, 275 kilometres away from Karachi.
