Karnataka Bandh Today: 44 Flights Cancelled

Karnataka closed today,

a state-wide shutdown on Friday over the Cauvery water dispute. This strike effects mostly on flights from Bengaluru to Karnataka. 44 flights cancelled due to strike in Karnataka that  scheduled to take off and land at the Kempegowda International Airport, the airport authorities said due to Karnataka bandh today.

Situation in Karnataka: Bandh today,

22 flights  coming from Bengaluru and 22 outgoing is cancelled. The several passengers reports complained that their tickets cancelled without any prior notice, airport authorities said it was due to operational reasons, and passengers were proclaimed within time. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) said that there were only 59 percent bus operation in southern parts of Karnataka.

Airport authority cancelled flights due to strike. They cancelled 44 flights today, which include 22 flights to and an equal number of flights from Bengaluru.

According to news, five pro-Kannada activities taken into custody as they entered the airport premises with a Karnataka flag to the stage and created a altercation inside the premises of Kempegowda International Airport.

Reason of Karnataka Bandh,

The Karnataka Bandh called by the ‘Kannada Okkoota’ to oppose the release of water to Tamil Nadu. The protest receive a good response in Bengaluru and other southern parts of the State on Friday, by disputing normal people life. Normal people face many kind of problems due to cancellation of flights and bus services. Most of the shops, business establishments in Cauvery basin districts such as Madhya in the southern part of the State close their shops and give full support to the strike. Theatres across the state have cancelled their evening shows, with the Karnataka Film Exhibitors Association backing the bandh.

Most of the information technology and big companies and other firms in Bengaluru asked their employers to work form home.  Authorities follow strict orders under Section of 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in Bengaluru and its districts. The strike time will in effect from 6 am to 6 pm on Friday.
